Implants
Are you missing a tooth or have a tooth that is broken or decayed beyond repair? At Beacon Hill Dental Centre implants are the standard of care now for replacing a single or multiple missing teeth. They preserve bone around them and satisfy the great needs of functionality, appearances and comfort.
What are Dental Implants?
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that we place in the jaw here at BHDC to replace missing teeth. In general dental implants are designed to function as the roots of teeth that can hold replacement teeth, bridge or denture. After healing is completed, also known as osseointegration, we can add a component to the top portions of the implant to restore for a single missing tooth or use multiple implants to stabilize a bridge or dentures for multiple missing teeth.
How Do Dental Implants Work and Who is a Good Candidate for Dental Implants?
The way that implants work is through a process known as osseointegration. This simply means that your implant will fuse naturally with the jaw bone over the course of about three to six months, at that time, we can go ahead and restore it to look and function like a natural tooth. We will examine you here at BHDC and determine if you have the amount of bone needed for dental implants, also we will assess your health to undergo oral surgery as well. At the initial consultation we can discuss your sedation options if you need anxiety reducing measures.

What happens during the procedure for Dental Implants?
To begin, we’ll administer local anesthetic, with the aid of 3D scan we prepare the bone, then insert the titanium implant. We then confirm the position of the implant, and finish the procedure and prepare it for healing. The procedure is usually less involved than a tooth extraction, and mild discomfort is experienced around the healing gum area, all can be alleviated with proper home care and over the counter pain relief medications.
How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?
We use the Ontario Dental Association fee guide, therefore, the cost of dental implants at Beacon Hill Dental Centre from start to finish can vary between $2,000-$4,500.
