Why is Teeth Whitening needed?

There are many ways that your teeth can become stained and discoloured. If you’re a regular coffee or tea drinker, or if you love drinking red wine or dark soda regularly, you’ll notice that your teeth aren’t as white as they used to be. Smoking, vaping and using other tobacco products can cause darkening in your teeth. Even eating healthy food such as berries, tomatoes, beets and curry sauce can take away the brightness from your teeth and finally the process of naturally aging can have an impact on the colour of your teeth as well. You might want to whiten your teeth before a special occasion or event or if you are simply looking for a way to improve your confidence and smile.

Who is a good candidate for Teeth Whitening?

Professional whitening works best on healthy natural teeth. This simply means that your restorations won’t lighten with treatment. If you have veneers, bonding, fillings, crowns or bridge work, the colour of these restorations will not change during or after treatment. However, it is common for patients to whiten their natural teeth before having new restorations placed.

What happens during the process for Teeth Whitening?

We offer two different types of whitening in our office: Zoom! and take-home whitening kits. With Zoom!, you booked to come into our office for about two hours. We start by placing cheek retractors then blockout your gums to protect them, then we apply patented whitening gel formula to your teeth. A brilliant light is used to accelerate your whitening results. You will achieve beautiful, dramatic results in a short time at our office. For our take-home kits, we’ll take impressions of your teeth and use these to make you customized whitening trays. You can use these trays with a professional-grade whitening gel and have them to keep for future touch-ups.
